COLUMBUS - Eleanor Jean Anstaett, age 92, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023. She was born on July 2, 1930 in Columbus, Ohio, and was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Robert Anstaett, and her beloved toy poodle, Suzette. She is survived by her children Tim, Mark, and Julie Anstaett; grandchild­ren Mona, Tara, and Thomas; and great-grandchild­ren Gabriel, Gunner, and Griffin. Jean enjoyed bowling, knitting, golfing, reading, playing cards, and weekly bingo at various churches. Her maiden name was Brenning, and she hosted annual large Thanksgivi­ng dinners for the entire Brenning family. She always assisted and accompanie­d her children in their activities. She was the #1 horse-mom at Julie’s equestrian events, typed Mark’s school papers before he learned to type, and was Tim’s to-andfrom Boston Marathon chauffeur for many years. Jean spent several months each year at her vacation home in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where she hosted happy hour parties and was known as “the Mayor of Hughes Lake”. She was also a past president of the Blazed Trail Club in Michigan. She was an avid OSU football and basketball fan who along with Robert hosted pre-game tailgate parties. Jean was also an unpaid but hardworkin­g volunteer hostess at the OSU golf course. A Memorial Service will be held at the Ohio State University Golf Course Dining Room (3605 Tremont Road in Upper Arlington) on Sunday, March 26, at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jean’s memory to Friends of Seney, via a PDF form that will be available at her service.
