COLUMBUS - Richard L. (“Pete”) Hemmer, age 88, died on March 8, 2023. Pete was born on June 7, 1934 in Dansville, NY, son of the late Carl Hemmer and Margaret (Kimmel) Hemmer. Pete was a faith-filled man and was blessed to have had two wonderful marriages. His first to Natalie (Donovan) Hemmer, who passed away in 2005. And his second marriage to Mary Hayes Hoyt Hemmer in 2011. Pete is the beloved father of Susan (Dale) O’donnell, Philip (Lisa) Hemmer, Richard (Michele) Hemmer, and John (Richel) Hemmer. He cherished his role as the family patriarch and is the proud grandfathe­r of nine grandchild­ren and three great grandchild­ren. He is also the proud stepfather to a matching family of four step-children and nine step-grandchild­ren. Pete graduated from Niagara University and served on active duty for the U.S. Army. Pete’s business career as a CPA spanned over forty eight years. He was employed by Ernst & Young, by several retail firms as CFO and by J.P. Morgan Chase in the Corporate Tax Department. Pete was a fan of many sports. He played varsity baseball in college, coached his sons in Little League and was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills and the Buckeyes. Pete held a special place in his heart for the “Friday Night Gang”. He has been in Columbus since 1996. In addition to his first wife Natalie and his parents, Pete was also preceded in death by his brother Robert and sister-in-law Lillian. Family will receive friends from 1-3 P.M.
