UPPER ARLINGTON - Terry Franklin Baumberger passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 8, 2023 in Columbus, OH. He was born on December 18, 1943, in Mansfield, OH to Frank Baumberger, Jr. and Elizabeth (Palmer) Baumberger. Terry was raised on a farm in Lucas, OH. His family moved to Lawrence, SC, when he was a child where they lived for several years before returning to the farm in Ohio. Terry graduated from Lucas High School in 1962 and from Devry Institute of Technology in Chicago, IL in 1965 with an Associate Degree in Electronic­s Engineerin­g Technology. He enlisted in the Navy in 1966, was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Cromwell, and was honorably discharged in 1971. He worked for Industrial Nucleonics, Accuray, and Combustion Engineerin­g during his early career holding positions from Applicatio­n Specialist, Systems Designer, Employment Recruiter, Systems Engineer, and Project Manager. His work took him to many parts of the world; he had many stories to tell from his adventures abroad. He always had an entreprene­urial spirit. In 1985 he bought a Hughes 300 helicopter and founded T-AIR Helicopter­s. The business offered flight training, chartering and repair services. Originally based out of Bolton Field in Columbus, OH they later moved to Darby Dan Airport in West Jefferson, OH. He closed the business in 1993. He started a computer consulting business in 1993 to 2023, serving as an IT consultant for local businesses. A long-standing client whom held a special place in his heart was Promowest Production­s. He was most recently owner of Maplewood Farm in Lucas, OH. The farm, which was the Baumberger’s family homestead since 1954, continues to be a crop farm. In addition, he transforme­d the historic barn and beautiful surroundin­gs into a wedding venue, which has been thriving since 2014. In addition to his love for work and travel, he was active in several rowing clubs in Columbus. Terry was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lynn Baumberger Jacoby. He is survived by his wife, Helen Kolman Baumberger; son Michael (Tracy Perry) Baumberger and their children Franklin and Elliot; and daughter Kirsten (Austin Rogers) Baumberger as well as his siblings Barb Baumberger Warns and Tom Baumberger. Family will receive friends for calling hours from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2023 at SCHOEDINGE­R NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, OH 43221, and a funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2023 at the same location.
