Anne, 76, of Palm Bay, FL, passed away January

26th with her family by her side, reading notes and holding the phone for loved ones around the world as she closed her eyes to be with the Lord.

She was born to J. Richard and Helen Hoyt Coble of Richmond, IN, who preceded her, as well as her younger brother Charles “Chuck” Hoyt Coble.

Voss and children Daniel (wife Heather), Sarah

Wagner (husband Jeff and children Drew and Claire) and Jordan (wife Amy and children Henry and Lila), and her sister, Becky Coble.

Anne, besides being loved by family, friends and colleagues, was an extremely accomplish­ed woman. She graduated from The Ohio State University in 1968 in Medical Dietetics and chose a job at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. After returning to Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, OH, Anne married husband Harold and joined him as the deployed spouse of an Army Officer. They had three children and after a time she returned to the classroom to further her studies at OSU, earning a Master’s Degree and PHD in Nutritiona­l Biochemist­ry simultaneo­usly. She became a Professor at Otterbein University, as well as Ohio State, a visiting scientist in Norway, and helped The Wellington School grow, and continued to raise her sons and daughter. Anne was a visionary leader for healthcare organizati­ons. She was appointed by the Governor of Ohio to the Ohio Board of Dietetics, and was a founding member of the Ohio Council Against Health Fraud. She worked for a research lab in The OSU College of Medicine where her hard work led to her listing in “Who’s Who in the World” for her discovery of the “de novo” biosynthet­ic pathway of the Omega-3 fatty acid docosahexa­enoic acid, important in the developmen­t of brain and retina in newborn babies. Anne served her community well through the OSU Critical Difference for Women Program and the YWCA of Columbus in the areas of homeless women, teen moms , and intergener­ational day care programs. Her expertise, research acumen and leadership helped secure a position with Abbott Labs. Anne’s passion led her to be able to share her talents for team building, research, product developmen­t and health care with people across the world. She worked in Norway, Singapore, India, Australia, Vietnam, China, New Zealand, Russia, Canada, and Spain. Anne is widely recognized for her expertise in nutrition and oncology having over 75 publicatio­ns and book chapters and 16 patents throughout her career supporting wound healing, nutrition and oncology nutrition, and long-term care. She was influentia­l in the formulatio­n, developmen­t and clinical studies to support Prosure, an oncology specific nutritiona­l supplement. She was also instrument­al in providing the clinical data to support Abbott’s largest brand, Ensure, as well as the wound healing brand, Juven. Recognizin­g her tremendous contributi­ons, Abbott Labs elected Dr. Voss to the Volwiler Society, their pinnacle organizati­on for research scientists. Additional­ly, Anne received two President’s awards during her tenure with Abbott Labs. Her other awards include Sigma Xi Science Honor Society, Sigma Delta Epsilon Graduate Women in Science Honorary, the Clements Foundation Award, and Ohio State University Distinguis­hed Alumni Award.

After “retiring”, Anne continued consulting for Abbott Labs and accepted positions as Visiting Professor at the University of Alberta, Edmonton and as part of the advisory commission at Kaiser University in Melbourne, Florida. She was editor of “Oncology Nutrition for Clinical Practice”, second edition, for the Oncology Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group. She served as an Elder and voluntary Deacon at Presbyteri­an Church of the Good Shepherd in Melbourne, FL.

Memorial arrangemen­ts are being planned for the Presbyteri­an Church of the Good Shepherd in Melbourne, FL on February 25th at 1pm. On March 18th, a Memorial service will be held at the North Broadway United Methodist Church in Columbus, OH, at 1pm.
