BUCKEYE LAKE - Alice Patrie Wing, 77, of Buckeye Lake, peacefully took her last breath on May 14, 2023, at the Otterbein Senior Life Health Center in Granville, OH, after a long illness. Affectionately known by her two older adopted brothers, John and Tom, as the “real kid” of John B. (Ben) and Alice P. Wing, Alice was born on November 27, 1945, in Harrisburg, PA.

The Wing family lived in Marshfield, WI, loved to travel together, ski at the Whitecap Mountain Resort area in northern WI, and gather yearly for family vacations and fun in Boulder Junction, WI.

Alice attended Marshfield Senior High School and then went to prep school for her senior year. She moved away to attend college in Iowa where she earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Dubuque. She moved to Columbus to attend Ohio State University where she earned her master’s degree in Adaptive Recreation while playing volleyball for the OSU women’s team. Alice worked for the Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities for 12 years where she managed volunteers and programming before a brief career as a financial advisor for American Express Financial Advisors. Alice will be most remembered as one of the original owners of the popular downtown Columbus restaurant and bar, the Grapevine Cafe (1988-2007).

A proud and passionate advocate for human and animal rights (especially women’s rights), Alice loved: skiing; playing golf; cheering on her Green Bay Packers and OSU Buckeyes; watching sports, Hallmark movies, and Nicolle Wallace; boating; piloting the Queen of the Lake II; bar-hopping where she would enjoy a Miller Lite or Tanqueray and tonic; cruising; traveling; regular trips to Minocqua, WI and Siesta Key, FL; cuddling with her pets; and making unforgettably fun memories with her Buckeye Lake community and many life-long beloved friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her wife, Lynnette Halstead; her parents; her older brother, Tom; her niece, Kelly; and her in-laws, Dick and Marilyn Halstead. Alice is survived by her brother, John (Kutzie) of Marshfield, WI, their children, Tim (Kate) Wing of Verona, WI, and Jill (Brian) Blaha of Wheaton, IL, and John and Kutzie’s grandchildren, Shelly, Jake, and Josh Wing, and Kaitlyn, Hannah, and Jackson Blaha as well as Alice’s sister-inlaw, Barb Wing of Appleton, WI, Barb’s son, Scott, and Barb’s grandchildren (Kelly’s children) Noah, Scout, Jory, Kyan, and Cassidy Wing. Alice is also survived by her brother in-laws, Steve Halstead and Scott Halstead, her sister-in-law, Jolene (Sam) Mierzejewski, and niece, Bailey (Joseph) Francis.
