The May 21 column “Biden’s agenda threatening our electrical grid” by Troy Balderson shows how uninformed and wrongheaded most Republican office holders have become. In trying to disparage a federal effort to improve the environment, he relies on statistics promulgated by PJM Interconnection.

The same company is actively slowing down and obstructing change to increases in development of solar and wind energy. A quick search shows that this organization, which handles electrical interchange for 62 million Americans, is being called out by the media and government for its intransigence.

If we want a cleaner environment and an end to over-reliance on fossil fuels, action must be taken and hurdles must be cleared. The Biden administration has shown how to proceed, but Balderson must realize that PJM is a giant hurdle blocking the goals the administration has set.

He cannot rely on PJM’S talking points as a defense for keeping this country mired in fossil fuels when the clean alternatives are there, and if PJM’S current slowdowns and obstruction are pointed out and addressed, then the grid will easily handle the oncoming changes.

It’s balderdash that Balderson is even siding with PJM and not seeing them as the real problem in this matter. 10 years is plenty of time to get the job done once PJM stops impeding access to the grid for solar and wind generation. Dave Bihn, Columbus

I have come to believe that the tourist slogan for Ohio should be “OHIO: Where Democracy Comes to Die.”
