Margaret (Marge) Burkhart, long time resident of Eastmoor, passed away on Tuesday, November 21 at the age of 94. Marge was born of immigrant Croatian and Hungarian families, was a devout, lifelong Catholic, was a member of St Catharine parish since 1955, and previously attended St Ladislas and Holy Family churches. Marge was a humble person who loved her very large family, many friends, and all God’s creatures. She was widowed in 1967 by the sudden death of her husband, Chuck and was also preceded in death by brothers and their spouses John (Katy), Tony (Toby), Ernie (Marilyn), Albert (Helen), Larry, sister Mary Shriner (Ed), brother-in-law Tom Moore, and six Burkhart brother/sister-in-law’s and their spouses. She is survived by her sister Marcella Moore, sister-in-law Jean Badurina, daughter Jeanne (Steve) and Chuck (Jenny). She was very close to all her grandchild­ren who visited her often-including Jessica (Anthony), Andy (Jaimie), Chris (Michelle), Lauren (Mariano), Katy, Ben (Ginka), Nick, Allison (Phil), Daniel, Stefani (Tommy), Faith, Anna, Marissa, Anthony, David, Kristin, and Marie. She was also close to her many cousins, nieces and nephews especially Karen Badurina who provided long-term in-home care and Monica Badurina who also provided in-home care. She was blessed with many lifelong friends, especially Iris Higgins and her daughter Jenny, JD, Carm Kelley, Sister Theresa, and caring long-time neighbors Dr. Jim and Peggy Mackessy, Mary Ey, and Barry Eisenman. Her daughter Jeanne, granddaugh­ter Jessica, and care-giver Jeaneen provided around-the-clock care and comfort during her final weeks at home. Special thank you to our beloved Father Morris for visiting her several times and administer­ing sacraments including the last rights, and to Father Dury who recently visited her at home. Marge worked her entire life beginning on the family farm, continuing at the Holy Family convent, and her brother Tony’s restaurant in Mt Gilead, Ohio where she graduated from high school. Marge and her husband were proprietor­s of the the Corner Grill (Malaga, Ohio), the Esquire Lounge (downtown Columbus), and the Groveport Cocktail Lounge. She also worked at Jacobson’s, Sanese, and the Ohio State Department of Taxation. Visitation will be held at St. Catharine Church, 500 S. Gould Rd., Cols. OH. from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. Monday, November 27, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 A.M. Burial St. Joseph Cemetery. Arrangemen­ts by EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 E. BROAD ST.
