Nedra Jane Cindia

-

Nedra Jane Cindia, age 98, passed away on November 19, 2023.

She married the love of her life Mike Cindia on May 5th 1943 who passed away in 2017 just shy of 74 years of marriage.

She loved her church and being active in it; such as cooking the monthly dinners for over 22 years, organizing garage sales for charity, helping prepare the communion each month, and serving on various committees. She read the Bible from cover to cover 7 times. She would help anyone she could whenever the need arose.

Nedra also served as a “Pink Lady volunteer at Alliance hospital for over 10 years, and as an election poll worker for many years. She worked as a riveter on aircraft during WWII at Taylorcraft while her husband was stationed in Italy with the Army Air Forces. She always said she wanted to be remembered as a “Rosie the Riveter”.

She loved long walks, and also enjoyed bowling in leagues and traveling. She loved to just sit outside or around the kitchen table and just talk to you. She had a wonderful sense of humor.

Nedra was an excellent cook, and baker, and we always looked forward to family gatherings when she would make pot pie, fried chicken and rhubarb pie. We can still remember watching mom and her mother prepare large meals when all her siblings and their families would come to get together. What a feast we would have!

She loved going on beach vacations with her children and grandchildren, and listen to the joy in their laughter. Most of all, she loved her family, and loved being around them as much as possible.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons and daughters in law, Michael (Sharyl) Cindia, Jack (Peggy) Cindia; grandchildren, Michael T (Katy) Cindia, Jill (Brian) Webb, Susan (Matt) Hutchinson, Matthew Cindia, Laura (Steve) Booher; 15 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Joseph & Susan Vargo; sister, Lois Marshall Hoberdier; and brothers, Ralph Marshall, Jack Marshall, Joseph “Sonny” Vargo, and James Vargo.

Life without seeing her face, hearing her voice, or feeling her touch will never be the same. We will forever love and miss her.

The family would like to thank Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wooster for their compassionate care of our mother.

A private family graveside will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted to Cassaday-turkle-christian Funeral Home 75 South Union Ave Alliance, Ohio 44601. Friends and family may share condolences and memories online at www.ctcfuneral.com.
