Bing K Tom
COLUMBUS - Bing K Tom, 90, passed away peacefully at home on November 16. Born and raised in Columbus, OH, he was the son of the late Tom Goon and Yee Shee. He grew up working in a Chinese laundry and Hong Kong Restaurant. He honorably served in the U.S. Air Force and used his skills upon discharge as a mechanic for Len Immke Buick. One day, Len Immke approached him and said he thought his talents would be better on the sales floor. From there, Bing worked in sales until he retired in 2008, having built a huge customer loyalty that would often call him at home after his retirement wanting him to sell them a car. He was earnest, honest, and hard-working but also very generous, loving and ornery. He enjoyed spending time with family, convertible rides, exploring different ice cream shops and going to the Senior Center of Reynoldsburg. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Tom; beloved companions Oscar and Archie; brothers, Fong, Sun, Poy and Bill; sister May Jean; and sons, Terrence Cashin, Christopher Cashin, and Kevin Cashin; as well as grandson Terrence Cashin and granddaughter Alexis Vega. He is survived by brother Pon (Sandra) Tom and sisters Mee Yong Sieu and May Lei Banks; sons, Thomas (Ann) Cashin, Jr., daughterin-law, Debbie Cashin, Richard (Sherry) Cashin, daughter-in-law Georgia Cashin; and daughters Vicki (Chet) Helsel and Tina (Alfredo Vega) Tom; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
