COLUMBUS - Donna Jean Frenz, 84, passed away January 6. She was born September 26, 1939 in Canton, Ohio, daughter of the late Joseph (Helen) Mikes and Twila (John) Hediger-proud. She graduated in 1957 from Timken Vocational High School, Canton, Ohio. Her secretaria­l career began at Zink Insurance Company, and she worked at several other companies before joining American Electric Power in 1971. Donna attained her Profession­al Secretary Certificat­ion in 1982, moved to Columbus with American Electric Power in 1983 and retired as an Executive Secretary in 2001. She was a member of St. Matthias Church and spent many volunteer hours there during her retirement. She was the life of the party, fun-loving, and a devoted friend to many. Donna is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Marilyn A. Erwin, brother-in-law, John Erwin, and half-brother, Joseph Mikes. She is survived by her son, Robert Frenz, his partner Sarah Bixler, many dear and close friends who will all miss her. The family would like to thank Donna’s close friend for her loving care and companions­hip during Donna’s illness, as well as the Capital City Hospice nursing/stna staff for the compassion­ate care they provided Donna in her final months. A Catholic mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Donna’s name to Capital City Hospice, 2800 Corporate Exchange Dr., Unit 170, Columbus, OH 43231 or Cat Welfare Associatio­n, 741 Wetmore Road, Columbus, OH, 43214.
