COLUMBUS, OH - Ralph E. Richter. Jr. was born on November 29, 1944 in Philadelph­ia, PA and passed away on January 23, 2024. Ralph was the oldest of four children born to Ralph E. Richter, Sr. and Jane (Lisa) Myers Richter who predecease him as does his son, Ralph E. Richter III (Rick). Ralph is survived by his wife Linda and two cherished daughters, Lee and Andrea. He is also survived by his loving sisters Carolyn Hoagland (Kevin), Lisa Willis (Bill), and Nancy Schramm (Dennis) as well as four nephews, one niece, 3 great nephews and 8 great nieces..

Ralph spent his childhood in Medford Lakes and Medford, NJ before his family relocated to Dayton, OH. He graduated from Oakwood High School in 1963 and then attended The Ohio State University. Ralph then enlisted in the Army where he worked in intelligen­ce gathering around the globe and was honorably discharged after four years. Ralph settled in Columbus, OH and he founded the U.S. Cargo and Courier Service in his garage in 1972 and retired from there 50 years later in 2022. Cargo grew from a local delivery business to a regional trucking operation under Ralph’s leadership. Many of his employees are counted as some of his best friends.

Ralph attended St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church where he served multiple terms on the vestry and loved the Lord. He also gave much of his time in various volunteer capacities. A service will be held at the church on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. The church is located at 30 W. Woodruff, Columbus, OH 43210. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Mt. Carmel Hospice 777 W. State St., Columbus 43222 or the Columbus Salvation Army Rehabilita­tion Center, 1675 S. High St., Columbus 43207.
