COLUMBUS - Sue (Lehman) Plotnick Fine (Age 83) passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024, after four difficult years bravely battling the effects of Alzheimer’s.

Born August 27, 1940. Sue lived her creative and carefree young life in Brooklyn, NY with her brother Seth pursuing her dreams to be an artist. She met her first husband in Brooklyn, and had four children who will remember her – Liz, David, Larry and Jack – along with her nine grandchildren – Tony (Jen), Elliott, William, Daniel, Jeremy, Lauren, Julianna, Cyrus and Alena, her son-in-law Mitchell and her daughter in-laws Julie and Emily. They will remember her fondly for her many passions and high energy. Sue met the love of her life in Pennsylvania and married Ernie Fine in 1998 and then moved to San Diego to enjoy their retirement. Although Sue lost Ernie in 2019, her love for him never diminished.

Sue had an enormous heart and cared deeply for her children, her friends and her pets. She was also strong willed and even stubborn at times, but she had a zest for life and for creative pursuits – whether that was painting, pottery or business. Sue always had a vision, the willingness to work hard to deliver it, and a sense of humor to deal with the things that went wrong; all traits she passed on to her children. In her retirement Sue started a chapter of PFLAG in Rancho Bernardo, volunteered at the San Diego Zoo, for the City of Hope, and in Columbus, during the pandemic she made sandwiches and put together goodie bags for various organizations helping those with less.

Sue will be remembered for all the love and lessons she shared with her friends and family. She truly loved each of them – even when she gave them a little hell, everyone knew it was just her personal love language. She will be missed dearly.

In typical Sue fashion, there are no services planned. Her children will be having their own celebration of life, as Sue would have wanted, with chocolate, love & laughs. Liz & Mitchell will welcome friends to their home on Thursday, February 1st 5:00-7:00pm with Kaddish at 5:15.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to PFLAG, Stand Up To Cancer, or your favorite charity, in memory of Sue.
