COLUMBUS - Kenneth B Szakelyhid­i, 77, of Columbus passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 17, 2024. He was born on April 15, 1946, in Ellwood City PA, to the late Bertram and Margaret (Doka) Szakelyhid­i. He Graduated from Lincoln High School before entering the United States Army where he served three years during the Vietnam War and continued his education as an Engineer Equipment Mechanic. Every morning he read the Cartoons in the Columbus Dispatch especially “Peanuts and Gang”. He then would head to the Park to walk his Labrador, Daisy; his best friend. He was an avid Steelers fan, having attended many Steeler/ Browns games with Lynn, his daughter. He enjoyed playing pool weekly with good friend Dana Lewie at Eldorado’s. Attended the annual INDY 500 car race 16 years in Indianapol­is, his witty personalit­y and humor will be missed by all. Ken was a member of the Scioto Model A Ford Club and Model A Restorer’s Club (MARC). Ken and Karen drove their 1931 Model A fordor Sedan and 1931 Roadster Deluxe during many touring events around Ohio, Commodore of the Buckeye Model Yachtsman Club. He was the Quality Control Ambassador of Constituti­on Place, Columbus OH. Kenneth will be greatly missed by his wife, Karen; children, Lynn (Keith) Harris, Ken Szakelyhid­i, and Shawn (Tonya) Szakelyhid­i; grandchild­ren, Hailey (Luke) Szakelyhid­i, Christian Szakelyhid­i, Andrew Hack, Michael (Emily) Hack, and Mathew (Cassidy) Hack; great-grandchild­ren, Libby, Ava, Holden, Lyla, Connor, and Greyson Hack; sisterin-laws, Pamela (Paul) Dougovito and Michelle (Brian) Stevenson; brother-in-law, Norman (Lisa) Leist; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, cousins and friends. A Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 10am until 11am, at the Schoedinge­r Worthingto­n Funeral Home, 6699 North High St., Worthingto­n OH, 43085. A Memorial Service will follow at 11am. A Memorial Service will also be held on March 9, 2024, 11am at the Christ Presbyteri­an Church, 325 Spring Ave., Elwood City, PA 16117.
