- Cecil Burns Bowling, 87, went home to be with the Lord on March 25, 2024. He was born in Pikeville, KY on July 26, 1936, to the late Lesta Rebecca Yates Bowling and the late Lon Bowling. He is survived by his loving step son, Tim Mcgowan (Diana), grand-daughter Shayla Mcgowan, close friend Shirley Mcgowan, daughter in-law; Elizabeth Bowling, brother; Milton Mckinley Bowling (Bonnie), sister; Doris Brenda Taylor (Clinton), sister in-law; Merle Bowling, and multiple nieces and nephews and many special friends.

In addition to his mother and father, Cecil was predecease­d by his beloved son; Tom Bowling, sister; Lucille Bowling Bartley and brothers; Jonah Elwyon Bowling, Clarence Victor Bowling, Charles Roland Bowling, Roy Grady Bowling, Reed Bowling, and Earl Edwin Bowling.

Cecil was a Navy veteran and was employed by Timken Bearing Company (Columbus, Ohio) for many years, and then worked at and retired from General Electric (Worthingto­n, Ohio). He loved spending time with loved ones and friends, hunting, fishing, watching sports, gardening and reading the newspaper. In his later years he especially enjoyed going fishing and crabbing with his family and favorite grand-dog Bailey on family vacations to the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Guests will be received from 11-1pm, Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Newcomer Funeral, Northeast Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-granville Road, Columbus 43231. Service to follow at 1pm on Tuesday, at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Blendon Central Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Red Cross in Cecil’s honor as he was a dedicated blood donor. The Newcomer family is honored to serve the Bowling family.
