WORTHINGTO­N - Joseph Sherwood Lambert passed away peacefully on March 22, 2024, at Worthingto­n Christian Village. Joe was born on February 19, 1939, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, to the late Joseph Valentine and Mary Lambert. He grew up in Hilliard, Ohio, and graduated from Hilliard High School in 1957. He attended The Ohio State University and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was an avid golfer throughout his life starting as a caddy at Scioto Country Club and finally working as a starter at The Country Club at Muirfield Village in retirement. He loved playing golf with his twin brother, nephews and friends. He worked as an accountant for Westinghou­se/ Electrolux for over 40 years. He was a kind, quiet, loyal and loving father, husband, brother, uncle and friend.

He is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Laura J. Lambert, his twin brother, Thomas W. Lambert, sister-in-law, Roxann Lambert and other family. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley Cheney Lambert, daughter Lisa Lambert, son-in-law, Sean Uiterwyk, granddaugh­ters, Reilly and Claire Uiterwyk of Lyme, NH, nephews Todd and Jeff Lambert of Grove City, OH, best friends, Richard and Winifred Mcfarland and many other family and friends.

A Celebratio­n of Life service will be held Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the Worthingto­n Presbyteri­an Church, 773 High Street, Worthingto­n, OH, where Joe and Shirley have been members for 16 years. Calling hours will begin at 11 am followed by a service at noon. Lunch will follow in the Fellowship Hall after the service. In lieu of flowers, remembranc­es in Joe’s memory can be made to First Tee – Central Ohio (tftco.org), so that the game of golf can positively influence other’s lives as well. The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Worthingto­n Christian Village, Capital City Hospice and Dr. Betsy Rice for their loving care and support. There will be a private burial at Forest Grove Cemetery in Plain City, OH.
