David Orrin Jones, 85, of Lancaster, Ohio, passed away on May 8, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. David was a pillar of the Lancaster community, and will be remembered fondly as a loving father, grandfathe­r, husband, and friend. David was born in Bainbridge, Ohio on November 9, 1938, and was the son of John Mason and Anna Marie (Redfern) Jones. David enjoyed 57 years of marriage to his loving wife, Joyce Kistler Jones (1936-2019). He was raised in Bainbridge, Ohio with sister Mary Ann Jones, and half-brother, John Karshner. David was a proud Buckeye and attended The Ohio State University where he earned both his undergradu­ate degree and MBA. Having begun his accounting career in 1962, he was Treasurer of Lancaster City Schools in 1964, then David joined Seth P Norman CPAS in 1966 and became a Partner in 1970. In 2008, David joined his son, Jeff, as a partner in Jones & Company, moving the firm from a regional Ohio firm to a network of national CPA offices in Ohio, West Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida. David is survived by daughter Christine and son Jeffrey (Debbie) Jones, of Lancaster, Ohio. Grandsons, Adam (Ashley) Jones of Charlotte, NC, Brandon Jones of Jacksonvil­le, FL, and Jordan Myers of Columbus, OH. Sister, Mary Ann Jones of NYC, and nieces and nephews. David was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lancaster. Throughout his life, David always remained active in his local community. He is the past Chairman & member of the Board of Trustees for the Fairfield Medical Center, past President of the Lancaster Country Club, past Treasurer of the United Way of Fairfield County, past President of the Lancaster Area Chamber of Commerce, past Treasurer of Lancaster City Schools, and he recently served on the CIC Executive Committee. David enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling around the world, working on puzzles, and sinking time into a good mystery novel with a glass of Chardonnay. He was an admirer of aviation and earned his pilot’s license. Additional­ly, David loved being in and around the water and was passionate scuba diver growing up. He eventually traded in the scuba suit for a swimsuit, enjoying vacations on the beach and catching evening sunsets on the banks of Buckeye Lake. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 11th, 2024, at the Funeral Home at 12:00 PM with calling hours two hours prior to the service. Should friends desire, contributi­ons may be made to Otterbein University, Fairfield Heritage Associatio­n or Fairhope Hospice in lieu of flowers.
