yearning. One that riveted me depicts what I thought was a wooden bridge, taken from a low vantage that appears to be leading to the sky; it turns out to be the old Zippin Pippin roller coaster from the fairground­s.

I think it’s the great themes — art, death, love and time, the pervasive motifs that govern all our endeavors. To greater or lesser degree (and with greater or lesser success), Reuther and Foote touch on these fathomless motivation­s in all the work in their exhibition­s. In fact, it might have profited each to have displayed their work alternatel­y, to allow a by-play of style and approach and technique in a provocativ­e and slightly anarchic exchange of comparison and contrast.
