‘Fish’ plumbs beauty of ocean depths

The Commercial Appeal - Go Memphis - - ARTS - By Fredric Koeppel Special to The Commercial Appeal

“Fish” is the most magical thing I have seen in Memphis probably ever. And the coolest, too.

To call “Fish,” on view through Aug. 13 at Crosstown Arts, an immersive, site-specific audio and visual media installation doesn’t begin to express the sense of movement, beauty, wit and mystery that it conveys. Created by a team of some of the bestknown local artists and filmmakers — Laura Jean Hocking, Sarah Fleming and Christopher Reyes — the gallery-filling work evinces a powerful sense of collaborative imagination, talent and, perhaps above all, coordination.
