On Saturday, the newly launched church New Tribe Memphis is hosting a book and school supply drive called “I Have A Dream To Read” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the The Club Room at the Memphis Pink Palace Museum, 3050 Central. Items donated will benefit Literacy Mid-south and Binghamton schools.

The community is asked to bring new or gently used books and new school supplies and then to stay and enjoy free activities, food and games.

NARFE meeting

The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Associatio­nChapter 1382 meeting will be held at noon Thursday at Old Timers Restaurant, 7918 C Street in Millington. Guest speaker will be Olen M. “Mac” Bailey Jr. from the Bailey Law Firm. He will speak about estate planning, elder laws and probate.

Lisa 5K race

Join runners and walkers at the seventh annual Lisa Lassandrel­lo 5K Remembranc­e Run at 9 a.m. Jan. 21 at St. Agnes Academy-st. Dominic School, 4830 Walnut Grove Road.

Race registrati­on is $20, or $19 for MRTC members, and includes a T-shirt. All proceeds benefit St. Agnes Academy-st. Dominic School, Grace -St. Luke’s Episcopal School and the Wings Cancer Foundation.

St. Anne alumni dance

The annual St. Anne Alumni Dinner Dance will be Jan. 21 in St. Sebastian Hall at the school, 670 S. Highland. Happy hour will be 5-6 p.m., with dinner served 5:30-8 p.m.

The Oliveus Award-winning cooking team will provide the Italian feast. Dancing will be 7-10 p.m. with deejay Jim Steinbrech­er playing tunes from the 1950s, ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. A $10 donation at the door includes dinner, dancing, setups, beer and wine.

All St. Anne alumni, parishione­rs and friends are welcome.

Saturday pet adoptions

Dogs from Real Good Dog Rescue will be up for adoption at Hollywood Feed, 4864 Poplar, noon-3 p.m.

Start the new year by adopting a greyhound from the Mid-south Greyhound Adoption Option. The rescue group will be at Petco, 1250 N. Germantown Pkwy., noon-2 p.m.

The Fayette County Animal Rescue will be at the Bartlett Petco, 6015 Stage Road, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

The House of Mews, a nonprofit cat sanctuary at 933 S. Cooper, has more than 100 cats awaiting adoption. Hours are Tuesday, 1-5 p.m.; Wednesday, 47:30 p.m.; Thursday, 6-9 p.m.; Friday, 4-7:30 p.m., and Saturday, noon-4 p.m.
