Suspect held in fatal stabbing

Memphis police have had a homicide suspect in custody since Monday, when a man was stabbed to death in a home near Martin Luther King Riverside Park, police disclosed today.

About 11:15 a.m. on Monday, officers were called to 180 First Street and found the stabbing victim dead in a rear bedroom, according to a statement released by a public informatio­n officer.

The person responsibl­e for the act was still on the scene and police took him into custody. He had not been charged by Tuesday morning.

Police did not identify the victim. They reported that he had not been positively identified.
