Bird dogs finish 2nd day of trials
Contest continues today at Ames
GRAND JUNCTION, Tenn. — Dogs enjoyed another good day during Tuesday’s second round of competition in the National Championships for Field Trialing Bird Dogs at Ames Plantation.
After a 20-minute fog delay, Poison, owned by Ronnie F. Spears, recorded five finds and a divided find, along with two backs and an unproductive point during a full three - hour run in the morning brace.
The other dog in the morning brace, Strut, owned by Jimmy Lee and Tommy Davis, notched three finds and shared a find with Poison. Strut also had two backs and an unproductive during a full three hours.
During the afternoon brace, L. J. Confidential, owned by Bartlett resident Earl Connolly and handled by championship trainer Steve Hurdle, had five finds and two backs and finished the full three hours. Lester’s Tom Cruise, owned by Brad Calkins, had five finds an unproductive in another three - hour run.
