Bird dogs finish 2nd day of trials

Contest continues today at Ames

GRAND JUNCTION, Tenn. — Dogs enjoyed another good day during Tuesday’s second round of competitio­n in the National Championsh­ips for Field Trialing Bird Dogs at Ames Plantation.

After a 20-minute fog delay, Poison, owned by Ronnie F. Spears, recorded five finds and a divided find, along with two backs and an unproducti­ve point during a full three - hour run in the morning brace.

The other dog in the morning brace, Strut, owned by Jimmy Lee and Tommy Davis, notched three finds and shared a find with Poison. Strut also had two backs and an unproducti­ve during a full three hours.

During the afternoon brace, L. J. Confidenti­al, owned by Bartlett resident Earl Connolly and handled by championsh­ip trainer Steve Hurdle, had five finds and two backs and finished the full three hours. Lester’s Tom Cruise, owned by Brad Calkins, had five finds an unproducti­ve in another three - hour run.
