PBS’ Sid set to wow kids, pique curiosity
On Feb. 25, WKNO and Lichterman Nature Center will host Sid the Science Kid Discovery Day featuring the star of the PBS Kids’ show. The free event went live on the events page on wkno.org in late November and “sold out” with 2,000 tickets in less than a month. WKNO added 1,000 more tickets on Feb. 1. As of Feb. 6, there were fewer than 100 tickets available. A waiting list will be instituted when those tickets are all claimed.
Sid the Science Kid, which airs weekdays at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Wkno/channel 10, is an engaging and entertaining animated preschool series promoting exploration and science readiness in a kid-friendly way. Sid explores the science of everyday realities that preschoolers face with the help of his friends and family.
Produced by The Jim Henson Company, Sid the Science Kid continues Henson’s legacy of quality children’s entertainment as the company’s first curriculum-based series for PBS KIDS.
Based on the curriculum of Preschool Pathways to Science, Sid the Science Kid delves into children’s natural curiosity about science in their everyday lives. Different aspects of life science, physical science and Earth science will be introduced to encourage preschoolers to ask, observe and predict how the world around them works.
Sid the Science Kid Discovery Day is sponsored by Bluecross Blueshield of Tennessee and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
