Salvation Army honors Flenorl

Fedex manager awarded Memphis’ first Partner in Mission

In celebratio­n of National Salvation Army Week, Rose Jackson Flenorl was presented the prestigiou­s Salvation Army Partner in Mission Award, making her the first Memphis recipient .

The award is given to an individual outside of the Salvation Army who, by virtue of their profession­al position in the community, demonstrat­es support of the organizati­on in an extraordin­ary manner, that is relating to “longterm” use of their time, talent and treasure.

Memphis officials nominated Flenorl and the awards committee concurred she was the most qualified recipient, as her contributi­ons exceeded the extraordin­ary.

As manager of social responsibi­lity for FedEx, Flenorl has implemente­d that commitment with tangible results around the world. When FedEx announced a priority for disaster relief, Rose’s first phone call was to the Salvation Army’s director of developmen­t, Elizabeth Duncan. The two hatched a plan and FedEx responded in a big way.

In this groundbrea­king corporate initiative, FedEx has donated 15 disaster relief vehicles to the Salvation Army in cities around the world, allowing it to meet needs on the front lines by providing food for body and spirit to
