Diane Keaton to speak in Memphis
Actress Diane Keaton will be the featured speaker at the annual Methodist Cancer Center Luncheon Nov. 16 at The Peabody.
A four-time Oscar nominee, Keaton, 66, won the Best Actress Academy Award for her performance in the title role of Woody Allen’s “Annie Hall” (1977). Other credits in her fourdecade acting career include “Sleeper,” “The Godfather,” “The Godfather: Part II,” “Looking for Mr. Goodbar,” “The Little Drummer Girl,” “Reds,” “The First Wives Club” and “Something’s Gotta Give.”
Known for her quirky fashion sense as well as her romances with Allen, Al Pacino and Warren Beatty, Keaton also is a photographer and director, and is the author of the recent best-seller “Then Again,” a memoir about her close relationship with her late mother.
At the noon luncheon, Keaton will discuss “gender and aging in Hollywood,” “being fearless” and “balancing work and family,” said Mary Alice Taylor, communications specialist for Methodist Healthcare.
Tickets range from $125 to $500 per person, and can be reserved by calling 901516-0500 or visiting methodisthealth.org/cancerluncheon. Proceeds benefit the Methodist Cancer Center.

The workshop is from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Planned Parenthood Greater Memphis Region office at 2430 Poplar. The cost is $100 and includes materials, lunch and technical assistance.
The training helps address educators’ liability concerns since Tennessee’s new sex education law went into effect July 1. The law forbids promotion of “gateway sexual activity” and allows parents to sue instructors who violate that ban. To register, call or e-mail Elokin CaPece at 725-3033 or ecapece@ppgmr.org.
