Purses with Purpose
The inaugural Purses with Purpose auction to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association of Memphis will be held Aug. 24, from 4 to 6 p.m, at Trezevant’s Performing Arts Center, 177 N. Highland. This event is sponsored by Trezevant, Emergency Mobile Health Care and Medical Solutions.
“While the event is not until (late) August, purseraising efforts are in full swing right now,” says Obie Sue Thomas, director of resident services for Trezevant. “We’re accepting donations of new, likenew and vintage purses from now until the event date.”
The Purses with Purpose auction idea is one that Trezevant Terrace administrator Bryan Ikerd first saw in Nashville and wanted to expand upon in Memphis.
“We’re proud to host the inaugural event and to assist the Alzheimer’s Association in raising awareness and funds to help eliminate this disease,” said Ikerd. “All of the sponsoring organizations provide services to a number of Alzheimer’s patients and their families, so this cause is near and dear to our hearts, and to the hearts of those we serve.”
Worldwide, nearly 36 million people are believed to be living with Alzheimer’s and this number is projected to reach 65.7 million by 2030.
Those wishing to donate purses for the auction may contact Xaviera Lee at 901-746-1800, ext. 2129 to arrange for pick up. Donations may be sent to Bryan Ikerd at Trezevant, 177 North Highland, Memphis, TN 38111. Beth Okeon is the owner of ABO Marketing & Communications.
