Germantown High School’s International Thespian Society is preparing for another busy school year with a new set of officers ready to step forth and take the lead.

The troupe, an honors organization for students who enjoy and excel in the dramatic arts, elected their officers for the 20122013 school year.

This year’s president is Emily Wolfe, first vice president is Lucy Fulliton, second vice president is Cooper Terle, the corresponding secretary is Maria Herrera, the recording secretary is Kayla Myers, treasurer is Kenzie Jones, historians are Madi Arthur, Rachel Dick and Brandon Lau, the publicity officer is Rachel Shannon and special events officers are Daren Baldwin, Matt Kuns and Zac Leonard.

“I am extremely excited to lead this troupe into another exciting year,” says Wolfe, “It’s going to be filled with new events that highlight the troupe’s talents.”

The troupe has begun groundwork for its first major function, the Germantown Festival. This fun filled two-day event takes place Sept. 8-9. One of the largest arts and crafts fairs in the Mid-South, the Germantown Festival provides the troupe with the opportunity to display their many talents. Events such face painting, clowning and balloon making are all managed by the troupe members.

In November, the troupe will provide coverage for GHS-TV’s Election Night 2012. This studentproduced live television show will feature interviews with local politi- cians, exclusive Germantown exit polls and the results of this year’s local and national elections.

Additional events for this year include the fall play; the annual Thespian Alumni Banquet, which recognizes PPP alumni from the past 36 years; the Tennessee State Thespian Conference, where Thespian Troupe No. 912’s Fulliton will serve as president of the executive board, the spring musical and a fine arts performance festival which features a student written children’s play, a night of student written one acts and the English Lovers, an award-winning improvisa- tional acting troupe from Vienna, Austria.

Many successful people began their journey as a member of Thespian Troupe No. 912. Some of the more distinguished alumni include movie and television actor and former Saturday Night Live star Chris Parnell, Missi Pyle of the Academy Award winning feature film, The Artist and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Wes Day of Blue Man Group, Debbie Elliot of NPR’s All Things Considered, Emmy award winning Desperate Housewives casting director Scott Genkinger and Today Show producer Mollie Parnell.
