The party’s over at the 2 for 1 Bar and Grill.

The operator of the club at 7144 Winchester, which was shut down temporarily Saturday by authorities, told a judge Tuesday he will close permanently rather than fight accusations that the club allowed drugs, sex and illegal alcohol

heodore Lewis, the operator, told Shelby County Environmental Court Special Judge Carlyn Addison that he will sign an agreement with state prosecutors and return to court Wednesday to make it official.

“He’s going to close up shop and leave,” state prosecutor Paul Hagerman said.

He said the building is owned by Robert and Revonda Denley, who leased the property to Lewis but.were not involved in the operation of the club.

Officials said there had been 63 calls for police assistance, 10 offense reports and three men shot and wounded at the club address since May.

The case against a second club temporarily closed Saturday as a public nuisance — Club Materialistic at 875 Jackson — was reset to Friday to give operator Rodney Fulton time to hire an attorney. The nightspot previously was known as The Boss Club and operated across the street at 912 Jackson.

Authorities raided the clubs over the weekend after undercover police officers said they bought marijuana numerous times in recent months and observed partially nude dancing at the clubs.

They said the two clubs also sold alcohol without asking for identification and that the 2 for 1 Club also sold alcoholic drinks without a liquor license.
