TULSA, Okla. — The University of Memphis women’s basketball team committed 21 turnovers and could not slow a Tulsa team that shot 49.1 percent in beating the Tigers 79- 68 on Thursday.

“We keep expecting it to be easy,” U of M coach Melissa McFerrin said. “We play two of our last three games on the road and we had to steal one of them. Missing this one means we have to get the one at East Carolina, and they are second in the league right now.”

Memphis closed to 44-42 with 16:33 to go, but Tulsa responded with a 6-0 run. The Tigers com- mitted turnovers on three of the next four possessions.

Ariel Hearn led Memphis with 18 points and Bilqis Abdul-Qaadir scored 14. Nicole Dickson had 11 points and eight rebounds.
