TFWC to hear waterfowl hunting seasons framework

-

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency announced last week that the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission will hear several presentations related to the state’s 2013-14 waterfowl hunting seasons at its monthly meeting scheduled for Thursday and Friday in Nashville.

TWRA staff members will outline the season framework recently laid out by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and TWRA’s Mark Duda will discuss the results of a recent public- opinion survey that was held to gauge interest in sandhill crane hunting across Tennessee.

Besides the waterfowl portion of the meeting, TWRA Information and Education Division chief Don King will update the TFWC on the marketing efforts designed to increase license sales to anglers. Don Crawford, the division’s assistant chief, will also present an update on the National Archery in the Schools Program and the National Fishing in the Schools Program.

Mike Butler of the Tennessee Wildlife Federation will also speak about the Scholastic Clay Target Program that has been successful in schools across the state.

This week’s meeting will be held at TWRA’s Ray Bell Region II Building. Committee meetings will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, and the formal commission meeting will be held at 9 a.m. Friday.

The meeting is the last one scheduled for the TFWC until August.
