Desoto Healthcare worker charged

A former employee of DeSoto Healthcare Center in Southaven has been charged with acquiring a controlled substance through misreprese­ntation, fraud or subterfuge, according to Mississipp­i Atty. Gen. Jim Hood.

Susan Chapman, 50, of Sarah, was charged with one count of acquiring Lortab that had been prescribed to another person, according to a release from Hood’s office.

Chapman turned herself in to the DeSoto County Jail June 17 and was released on $10,000 bond. She could face up to five years if convicted.

Joe Sanderson of the attorney general’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit is investigat­ing the case, which will be prosecuted by Special Asst. Atty. Gen. Myrick Jackson.
