The Commercial Appeal
Support our shelters
I have been going to Mewtopia weekly for 10 years to help clean, medicate and socialize rescued cats. Other dedicated volunteers come every day to maintain the cleanliness and health of the facility and its inhabitants.
The complaints in the June 24 article “The cat’s me-OUT” are unfounded and exaggerated.
I take pride in what I do for Mewtopia and work hard to raise awareness about our organization’s cause.
There wouldn’t be a huge need for animal shelters and sanctuaries if people would have their pets spayed and neutered. Thousands of animals in Memphis alone would not have to be euthanized every year.
If others would like to help organizations like Mewtopia, there are several things that can be done: Have your pets spayed or neutered, donate to local spay/ neuter groups so less-fortunate people can take care of their pets, make a financial contribution to an animal sanctuary, become a shelter/sanctuary volunteer, donate supplies, consider including an animal sanctuary in your will, pressure your local city council to enact spay/ neuter legislation, and of course, come to Mewtopia and adopt a new friend.
