75 years ago: 1938

Three of Memphis’ six surviving Confederate veterans will leave today for Gettysburg, Pa., scene of the deciding battle of the Civil War and now to be the scene of the joint reunion of the Blue and Gray. The three Memphians who will attend are the Rev. R.P. Smith, Gen. R.E. Bullington and Col. John W. Porter.
