Register for ‘48 Hour Film Project’
Registration is under way for the Memphis edition of the “48 Hour Film Project,” an international initiative that requires competing teams to create and complete a short film in a single marathon weekend, from the writing to the casting to the shooting to the editing and so on. T he Memphis “48 Hour” event is set for July 26-28. Completed films will be screened July 30 at the Malco Studio on the Square.
Local coordinator Rich Newman describes the project as a great way for young or new filmmakers to gain experience and learn their craft while meeting likeminded directors, actors, crew members and so on.
Cities all over the world host their own 48 Hour Film Projects. Local winners are screened in the annual “Filmapalooza” competition, with the Filmapalooza winner earning a spot at the Cannes Film Festival.
