Ambulance service to start Monday
American Medical Response will take over ambulance services for unincorporated Shelby County, Arlington, Lakeland and Millington on Monday, replacing longtime provider Rural Metro.
AMR was awarded the $1.7 million, five-year contract in May.
The company will operate under a performance-based system that incorporates some of the most innovative changes in Shelby County’s public safety to date, said Shelby County Fire Chief Clarence Cash.
The company has also invested in cutting-edge technology and spent $2.5 million locally on new ambulances.
AMR is based in Colorado and provides services in 40 states and the District of Columbia.
