A closer look at new Memphis Grizzlies head coach Dave Joerger: Age: 39 Hometown: Staples, Minn. Coaching career: Joined the Griz staff in 2007 as an assistant under Marc Iavaroni. He was retained in 2009 when Lionel Hollins replaced Iavaroni, and elevated to lead assistant in 2011. Before joining the NBA, Joerger gained fame as head coach of the 2007 NBA D-League champion Dakota Wizards. Dakota’s 2007 championship was Joerger’s fifth as a head coach. With one International Basketball Association title and three in the Continental Basketball Association, Joerger also owns two CBA Coach of the Year Awards and a head coaching record of 232-117 (.665).
Playing career: Played point guard at Moorhead State.
Personal: Joerger and his wife, Kara, have two daughters, Alli and Kiana.
