Mental evaluation ordered on suspect
OXFORD — A federal judge has ordered a mental evaluation for a 21-year- old man who pleaded guilty to threatening to attack Oxford High School.
Joshua Brandon Pillault was charged in October with making threats against the school in a chat room conversation while playing an online game. The threats were reported by a fellow player in Virginia.
He pleaded guilty to one count on June 20 in federal court in Oxford.
U.S. Dist. Judge Michael P. Mills ordered the evaluation on Tuesday.
The order says the evaluation could determine if Pillault needs mental health care.
Mills also directed the examiner to provide an opinion on sentencing options that could help Pillault get appropriate care.
