Suspect sought in jewelry thefts

Southaven police need the public’s help in fi nding a 31-year-old man who stole a Rolex watch and a diamond from two jewelry stores in the city.

Police identified Chad Allen McCarty from surveillance video as the suspect wanted on felony shoplifting and grand larceny charges in connection with the thefts that occurred a week a part.

Police said the suspect went into Southern Jewelry on Malco Drive the week before last and pretended he was shopping. He then left the store without paying for a Rolex watch valued at $7,000.

He did the same thing Friday at Robert Irwin Jewelers on Goodman Road. This time, he left the store with a large diamond stone valued at $10,000.
