County commissioners have a major concern about the material for the outer covering of the downtown pyramid arena, Charles Perkins, head of a special commission committee, said Thursday. “Rather than building a cheap, shoddy, poorly constructed building, I had rather not build the building,” Perkins said during a meeting at which covering materials were discussed. Perkins, a pyramid supporter, said he would support dropping the project “unless we can be assured that this is going to be first class, something that is a monument in the community. If we are going to go out on the limb and build this thing, we want it to be a monument, something that is going to be here for 100 years.”
