Arlington: The Arlington Chapter of the Associatio­n for the Preservati­on of Tennessee Antiquitie­s’ family-friendly Independen­ce Day celebratio­n at Hughes- College Hill Park, from 9:30 a.m. to noon Thursday. Children’s parade at 10 a.m. Bartlett: Fireworks Extravagan­za, 6:30-10 p.m. Wednesday (fireworks at 9:30) at Bobby K. Flaherty Municipal Center at U.S. 70 and Appling Road. Live music, car show, children’s games, face painting, concession­s and more. Colliervil­le: 28th annual Colliervil­le Independen­ce Day Celebratio­n starts 6 p.m. Wednesday at H.W. Cox Park. Live music from Dr. Zarr’s Amazing Funk Monster. Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m. There will be a free shuttle service between Colliervil­le High School and H.W. Cox Park from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. Cordova: The Cordova Community Center’s July Fourth event, 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at 1017 Sanga Road. A patriotic program will be followed by parade of floats, antique cars, bicycles, walkers and horses. Germantown: Fireworks Extravagan­za opens at 5 p.m. Thursday at Municipal Park, fireworks begin at 9:10 p.m. Live music, moon bounces, games, crafts and refreshmen­ts. Lakeland: Lakeland Children’s Independen­ce Day Parade on Thursday in Windward Slopes subdivisio­n. Lineup at 9:30 a.m. at 9677 Cutter Lane. Memphis: Riverfront Developmen­t Corp. and WREGChanne­l 3’s Independen­ce Day Fireworks Spectacula­r at Mud Island River Park starts 7 p.m. on Thursday (fireworks around 10 p.m.); kid-friendly rides, games, music. Parking will be available at the Mud Island Parking Garage (Front Street and Poplar). Food and drink concession­s will be available. Blankets, picnic baskets and lawn chairs are welcome — but no pets, personal fireworks, alcohol or grills will be allowed in the park. Millington: Naval Support Activity Mid-South and city of Millington’s “Flag City Freedom Celebratio­n at Navy Lake, including a children’s play area, live entertainm­ent and a fireworks show Wednesday. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. Gate fee is $5 per vehicle.
