Redbirds’ win streak ends in Iowa

The Redbirds’ four-game winning streak came to a close on Friday night as Kyle Hendricks threw seven scoreless innings of four-hit ball to lead the division-rival Iowa Cubs to a 2-0 shutout victory at Principal Park in Des Moines.

But thanks to Omaha’s loss earlier in the evening, Memphis (64-70) stays two games back in the PCL American Northern Division with 10 games remaining. Iowa improves to six games behind Omaha in third place.

Hendricks (2-0) finished the night with four singles allowed with three strikeouts for the win.
