Nashville MBA 24, Christian Brothers 10: In a rematch of last year’s D2-AA state quarterfin­al game, MBA came out on top again. MBA led just 2- 0 at the half, before the Purple Wave scored 10 unanswered points to take a 10-2 lead. The touchdown came on a blocked field goal that was returned 66 yards by Dominic Volte. But MBA closed the game out with 22 straight points. Christian Brothers was held to 176 total yards. Rossville Christian 37, West Memphis Christian 0: Rossville Christian outgained West Memphis Christian, 269-10, on the ground in cruising to its season-opening win. Tinsley Heston had 95 yards on 14 carries, while Brian Novarese added 81 and Scotty McRae had 71. The defense held West Memphis Christian to just three first downs and 48 total yards. Southaven 38, Clarksdale 7: Quarterbac­k Shea Clark threw four touchdown passes, including two to Tedrick Wiggins, as Southaven rolled past Clarksdale. Clark opened the scoring with a 16-yard TD pass to Wiggins. the two later connected on a 68-yard scoring play. Clark also had scoring strikes of 48 yards to Telivon Jones and 38 to Ricky Mays. Kingsbury 28, St. Benedict 21: Trailing 21- 6 at the half, Kingsbury erupted for 22 third-quarter points to win its season opener. Running back Jordan Brown led the way with 158 yards rushing on 16 carries and quarterbac­k Eric Cole threw for 140 yards. Kingsbury outgained SBA, 387-148. Wooddale 9, Bartlett 7: Wooddale got a one-yard touchdown run by Malik Huntsman to pull out the road win. After falling behind 3- 0 in the first quarter, Bartlett took the lead in the third on a six-yard run by Braylon Porter, who finished with 82 yards rushing. The teams combined for just nine yards passing. Saltillo, Miss. 24, DeSoto Central 21 (OT): Saltillo, Miss., got a 21-yard field goal from A. J. Rye in overtime to get past DeSoto Central. DeSoto Central got touchdown runs of 18 and 22 yards from Alan Lamar in the second quarter to take a 21-14 lead at the half. But Saltillo’s defense shut out DeSoto Central the rest of the way. Lamar had 167 yards rushing on 29 carries, while receiver Mark Partee had three catches for 152 yards, including a 94-yard touchdown reception. Brighton 59, Carver 6: Brighton got scoring plays from its offense, defense and special teams to blow past Carver. Blue Curry opened the game with a 99-yard kickoff return. Carver’s lone score came on a 40-yard fumble recovery and return from Kevin Shaw in the first quarter. Brighton outgained Carver, 36151. East 32, Southwind 19: East erased a 13-8 halftime deficit to stun Southwind with 24 second-half points. The Mustangs used the running tandem of DeVante Turner (122 yards) and Antonio Clifton (109 yards). Southwind quarterbac­k Darian Cole was 16 of 26 for 187 yards and a touchdown. Arlington 24, Kirby 19: Arlington turned to its defense in the fourth quarter, using a 30-yard intercepti­on return by Drew Irwin to hold off a pesky Kirby squad. Arlington quarterbac­k Hunter Sheffield completed 15 of 29 for 135 yards, while Kirby’s Cedrick Crawford was 12 of 24 for 128 yards and two touchdowns.

FACS 29, Jackson Christian 3: Kortney Morris rushed for 176 yards and two touchdowns to lead First Assembly Christian School to victory. Morris scored on runs of 10 and two yards. FACS had 353 yards of offense while its defense held Jackson Christian to just 19 yards rushing.
