BRENTWOOD ACADEMY GETS REVENGE AGAINST MUS

-

Brentwood Academy 36, MUS 7: Brentwood Academy more than atoned for last year’s heartbreaking loss to Memphis University School in the D2-AA state semifinals. Brentwood Academy jumped on MUS, 16- 0, in the first quarter and held the Owls scoreless until MUS scored with less than three minutes remaining in a game played at Vanderbilt.

While MBA was able to use a balanced attack to dominate the Owls’ defense, MUS struggled with its passing game. MUS quarterback Blake Bennett was just 3 of 7 for 28 yards, and teammate James Sexton was 2 of 3 for five yards, giving the Owls just 33 yards in the air.

Meanwhile, MBA senior quarterback Tyler Swafford made his debut as a starter by completing 15 of 22 passes for 241 yards and four touchdowns. Running back Shawn Brashers added 84 yards rushing as the Eagles piled up 175 yards on the ground. MUS prevented the shutout when Chris Davis scored on a 39-yard run with 2:30 remaining.
