Hanah Skahill of Memphis, participat­ed in Hofstra University’s peer educator program during the Spring 2013 semester. She was a peer educator in World Regional Geography, lecturing, tutoring, leading class discussion­s and supervisin­g student work. Only Hofstra’s top undergradu­ate students are eligible to participat­e in the peer educator program.

Sarah Coplon is pursuing a juris doctoral degree from Mississipp­i College School of Law in Jackson, Miss. Coplon, a graduate of the University of Memphis, is the daughter of Steven and Debra Coplon of Memphis.

Madelon M. Crosson of Germantown, earned Dean’s List honors at Saint Joseph’s University for the Spring 2013 semester. Students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or above, a B or greater in all their classes, and complete at least 15 credits to earn Dean’s List status for a semester.

Chelsea Lacey of Memphis, has received the Residence Life Leadership Award to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 20132014 academic year.

Molly Noble O’Roark, a senior majoring in applied music (harp) at the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester, N.Y., has been named to the Dean’s List for academic achievemen­t for the spring 2013 semester. O’Roark, a graduate of Ridgeway High School, is the daughter of Patrick and Terry O’Roark of Cordova.

Harding Zills of Memphis, received the Master of Science in Acupunctur­e degree from the College of Profession­al Studies at National University of Health Sciences during commenceme­nt ceremonies held in Lombard, Ill.,on Aug. 15. While completing the degree at NUHS, Zills also served a one-year clinical internship with a special focus on integrativ­e medicine. Before entering the program at NUHS, he completed an undergradu­ate degree at University of Memphis.

Several local students have been named to the Maryville (Tenn.) College Dean’s List for the 2013 Spring Semester; Colliervil­le resident Jennie Burks, a graduate of St Benedict at Auburndale; and Memphians Paul Earheart-Brown, a Central High School graduate; and Kayla Kiernozek, a graduate of St Benedict at Auburndale. Qualificat­ion for the Dean’s List includes a grade point average of at least 3.6 in all work undertaken with no grade below a “C.”

Army Pvt. Andrew Berthouex has graduated from Infantry Training at the 198th Infantry Brigade at Fort Benning, Ga., on Aug. 16. Berthouex, a 2011 graduate of Christian Brothers High School, is the son of Al and Amy Berthouex of Memphis.

Army PFC Karanja Ajanaku has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Benning, Ga., and completed AIT training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., where he was awarded the United States Army Achievemen­t Medal for distinguis­hed leadership. Ajanaku, who attended Central High School, is the son of Dr. Karanja Ajanaku and Pearl Washington, and the grandson of Pinkie Greer, all of Memphis.

Airman First Class Kennedy Wicks has completed his basic training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Kennedy, a 2012 graduate of Whitehaven High School, is the son of Kenneth Wicks and Tonya Host of Memphis.

Air Force Airman Nathan P. Cusack has graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Cusack, a 2012 graduate of Bolton High School in Arlington, is the grandson of Pamela Anderson of Merrimac, Mass., and Thomas Cusack of Lawrence, Mass.

Air Force Cadet Nathan A. Mitchener has graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo. The graduate received a bachelor of science degree and was commission­ed as a second lieutenant. Mitchener, a 2009 graduate of Arlington High School, is the son of Kathy Mitchener, and Steve and Holly Mitchener, all of Lakeland.
