Seniors will head to Lindenwood Church
Germantown United Methodist Church’s Xtra, Young and Zesty group will attend Lindenwood Christian Church’s concert series “Curtain Up — Chris and Friends on Broadway” Nov. 3. The cost is $15 per person and the group will meet at the Owings Life Enrichment Center parking lot at 2 p.m. The concert will begin at 4 p.m. Call Luci Cromer at 901755- 0803, Louise McGhee at 901-755-3463 or Gretchen Blair at 901-755-0797 to save a seat. The registration deadline is Oct. 4. You don’t have to be a member of the church to attend but you must be over 55 years old. Rotary Club of Germantown president (left) Mable Barringer recently inducted two new members — (center) Marcia Hutchison and Bhogilal Sheth. Hutchison recently retired from IBM was proposed for membership by her husband Rotarian Hutch. Sheth is a emeritus professor of pharmaceutical sciences at the University of Tennessee, College of Pharmacy and was proposed for membership by Vijay Surpuriya. The Kiwanis Club of Germantown has presented its 2012-2013 Lawman of the Year Award to (center) Lt. Mike Fisher of the Germantown Police Department. Fisher has a criminal justice degree from the University of Mississippi and has worked for the Desoto County Sheriff’s Department, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department and began working with the Germantown Police Department in 2005. He has worked as a patrol officer, SWAT officer, detective and was promoted to lieutenant in 2012. Congratulating Fisher are Chief Richard Hall and Kiwanis selection committee chairman David Jackson.
