Seniors will head to Lindenwood Church

Germantown United Methodist Church’s Xtra, Young and Zesty group will attend Lindenwood Christian Church’s concert series “Curtain Up — Chris and Friends on Broadway” Nov. 3. The cost is $15 per person and the group will meet at the Owings Life Enrichment Center parking lot at 2 p.m. The concert will begin at 4 p.m. Call Luci Cromer at 901755- 0803, Louise McGhee at 901-755-3463 or Gretchen Blair at 901-755-0797 to save a seat. The registrati­on deadline is Oct. 4. You don’t have to be a member of the church to attend but you must be over 55 years old. Rotary Club of Germantown president (left) Mable Barringer recently inducted two new members — (center) Marcia Hutchison and Bhogilal Sheth. Hutchison recently retired from IBM was proposed for membership by her husband Rotarian Hutch. Sheth is a emeritus professor of pharmaceut­ical sciences at the University of Tennessee, College of Pharmacy and was proposed for membership by Vijay Surpuriya. The Kiwanis Club of Germantown has presented its 2012-2013 Lawman of the Year Award to (center) Lt. Mike Fisher of the Germantown Police Department. Fisher has a criminal justice degree from the University of Mississipp­i and has worked for the Desoto County Sheriff’s Department, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department and began working with the Germantown Police Department in 2005. He has worked as a patrol officer, SWAT officer, detective and was promoted to lieutenant in 2012. Congratula­ting Fisher are Chief Richard Hall and Kiwanis selection committee chairman David Jackson.
