Leipzig will be business partner Memphian to lead state Realtors
Memphis and Leipzig, Germany, are bonding to promote economic development in both cities, the Greater Memphis Chamber announced.
A memorandum of understanding for a new cooperative relationship was to be signed during a ceremony Tuesday evening at Memphis Bioworks Foundation.
Professionals from both cities are gathering to exchange information and ideas about cooperating in trade, science, technology and other fields of mutual interest, Chamber officials said in a prepared statement.
Both Memphis and Leipzig are centrally located in their regions and offer multimodal-logistics infrastructure.
Some global companies already use both the Memphis and Leipzig hub connections, according to the Chamber.
German participants in the conference were to include Northern Saxony County Mayor Michael Czupalla, Lutz Thielemann of the WRL Region Leipzig Agency, and Prof. Uwe Arnold of Leipzig-Halle Logistics Cluster.
In a related development, Memphis International Airport on Monday announced a new partnership with Leipzig/Halle Airport in Saxony.
The two air cargo hubs plan to exchange information and best practices.
