-

A police chase Friday began in Clarksdale when two teen boys and a man took off in a stolen SUV and led authorities on a chase that ended when the suspects crashed in Tunica.

The identities of the suspects have not been released, as authorities continue to investigate.

Clarksdale police said the incident began at 10:16 a.m. after two of the suspects are believed to have robbed a 75-year-old man sitting on his porch at his home.

Police said the two suspects pointed a gun at the victim and took his car keys, money, cellphone and then fled in his 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Police said the third suspect jumped into the stolen vehicle as it pulled away from the victim’s home.

Minutes after the robbery, police attempted to pull the driver over and the pursuit began.

The suspects headed north onto U. S. 61 and crossed from Coahoma County into Tunica County. About 11 a. m., just north of Tunica, the suspect driving the stolen vehicle lost control on U. S. 61 at Woolfolk. The suspects were not injured and were taken into custody from the crashed SUV.

Authorities said the juveniles may be charged as adults. All three suspects face charges of armed robbery and grand larceny. The driver may also be charged with felony eluding a law enforcement officer.
