Djokovic, Nadal advance at Monaco

Defending champion Novak Djokovic raced into the Monte Carlo Masters quarterfin­als by dispatchin­g Pablo Carreno Busta of Spain 6-0, 6-1 in 47 minutes Thursday.

Eight-time champion Rafael Nadal also had little trouble, beating Italian Andreas Seppi 6-1, 6-3, while fourthseed­ed Roger Federer shook off a slow start in a 6-4, 6-1 win against Czech player Lukas Rosol.

FOOTBALL

The Minnesota Vikings have signed former Philadelph­ia Eagles safety Kurt Coleman. The seventh-round draft pick in 2010 out of Ohio State played the last four seasons for the Eagles, but he didn’t start a game last season.

Former NFL star wide receiver Chad Johnson signed a two-year deal with the Canadian Football League’s Montreal Alouettes. He last appeared in an NFL game during the 2011 season with New England. Johnson, who once changed his last name to Ochocinco, spent most of his 11 NFL seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. In 166 career games, the six-time Pro Bowl player caught 766 passes for 11,059 yards and 67 touchdowns.

GOLF

Lee Westwood shot a 7-under 65 on Thursday to take the lead after one round at the Malaysian Open in Kuala Lumpur. Westwood had a bogey at his first hole but birdied four of his closing five to take a one-shot lead over Nicolas Colsaerts of Belgium before play was suspended because of the risk of lightning.

Angela Stanford shot an 8-under 64 on a wind-swept course to take a one-stroke lead after the second round of the LPGA Lotte Championsh­ip at Honolulu. The fivetime LPGA Tour winner was at 8-under 136. Michelle Wie was one stroke back after a 67 that included five birdies. Christie Kerr, a 16-time tour winner, shot a 66 and was tied for third with three others at 138.
