Pair charged in robbery, escape try

-

Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man for a six-month-old robbery and a woman for trying to help him escape on Monday.

Ricky “Lil Ricky” Christian, 34, is charged with aggravated robbery. Lashonta Starks, 33, is charged with two counts of accessory to the crime and aggravated robbery.

Memphis police responded to a robbery call Jan. 1 near Poplar and Manassas. A man told police that another man pistol-whipped him and took $140. According to an affidavit, Christian told police the man owed him $30, so he pistol-whipped him, but did not rob him.

On Monday, sheriff’s deputies knocked on Starks’ door looking for Christian. She looked out of the window, according to an affidavit, then made deputies wait before she opened the door.

She told police she hadn’t seen Christian in a month, and let them search her duplex apartment. Deputies found the attic door open and discovered there was no fire wall between the adjoining units. When they went through to the next residence, they found Christian. He and Starks were taken into custody.

Christian is in jail on $100,000 bond. Starks is out on $3,000 bond.
