100 years ago: 1914

A new picnic ground, with whitewashed trees, tended lawn, rustic bridges and a pavilion sheltering 300 persons, has been opened by the West Memphis Packet Co. 10 miles south of Memphis on the Arkansas side of the river. The steamer Charles Organ leaves for the resort daily in the morning and again in the afternoon.
