Desoto schools offer early sign up
Registration online possible
DeSoto County School District is relying on an online program used last school year to expedite registration for the coming year while also reducing paperwork.
The district’s InfoSnap program allows parents of returning students to preregister online during the summer, saving the trouble when classes begin in August. Online preregistration began this week.
With more than 40 campuses countywide, the district is Mississippi’s largest public district. Reducing the bottleneck at the beginning of the school year eases headaches for parents, officials say, as well as finding an accurate student count more quickly.
“This process almost completely replaces the paper forms that you are asked to complete at the beginning of each school year,” said Melissa Green, the district’s director of management information systems. “Online registration saves parents time and saves our school district money.”
Students began receiving e-mail notifications Monday containing a link to update existing registration information.
“Parents and guardians are encouraged to complete the registration process now and not wait until the fall,” Green said.
The system allows parents and guardians to upload utility bills or car registration as proof of residency.
“It’s the same system we used for the ’13-14 school year,” Green said, “and it will have all the information parents entered at that time.
“If your or your child’s information has changed, please make the changes in InfoSnap for the upcoming school year.”
Green said returning students who don’t receive an e-mail with registration information should contact the school.
